Office Staff

Janie Smith – Office Manager. Janie has been with the Daland Swim School since 1988. All five of her children were swimmers and four were coached by Ingrid Daland. Heather, the youngest daughter taught at the swim school for eight years and her youngest son, Randy, not only learned to swim at the swim school, but taught for us for eight years as well.

Janie is a much-loved and valued member of the Daland Swim School staff. She has five children and three grandchildren.

Dave Olbrich – Office Supervisor.

Dave was strictly a leisure swimmer prior to joining the staff in fall 2003. Soon after the Daland Swim School instructors taught him to freestyle and backstroke correctly. Dave brings years of experience fostering small and growing companies to his post as office supervisor. In 2005, he got his certification as an aquatics facilities operator.

His previous work experience focused on publishing, from selling advertising in a video game magazine, to translating French books to be published in English; from leading a role-playing game company, to serving as the publisher for a comic book company. Raised in Minnesota, Dave has a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He lives in Moorpark with his wife Lori, daughter Maggie and 130 lb Alaskan Malamute Roxy. Dave regularly practices his freestyle and backstroke in the lap pool.
